Airport Shmerport
It has been all over the news today, the US Airways Jet that plummeted from the sky after take off from New York’s La Guardia Airport and as if by miracle landing safely in the nearby Hudson River, without not so much as a scratch on anyone.
Not so much a miracle but the bravery and amazing skills of pilot Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger III, who has the best name I’ve heard in ages by the way, who calmly handled the situation and kept everyone including himself calm during the few minutes in the air.
It has been suggested that a flock of geese flew into both of the aircraft engines and caused them to fail, a common fear among pilots apparently. This got me thinking about the new airport terminal at Heathrow. This could be a grave warning for the much publicised and controversial plans for the third runway at Heathrow Airport…
Not only are there the obvious environmental implications involved, massively increased carbon emissions, noise pollution, and disruption to local residents, it’s the local wildlife that spring to mind. Namely the geese that reside in the nearby, ahem wait for it… the “legally protected” Kent Marshes, where the new runway will just happen to be very close to.
Where will they flock? Nobody knows? I could give you a hint though…
Plus - not to mention this airport is possibly flouting hundreds of EU safety and environment regulations...
I know thinks Gordy... wont it be a great idea to have our crash landing zone on top of a motorway? That’s just boss that Browny mate... so err what’s happened to your plans to cut carbon emissions then? Lost them have you?
This little Agent Marketer does not want roast geese…
