I Like to Move it, Move it

Not in a rambunctious, grinding, dancing fool kind of way. When I ”move it” I prefer to do it in a Pickfords stylee with a big van full of furniture to pastures new.

Since fleeing the nest at the tender age of 16, I have managed to clock up an impressive 23 property moves and seeing as I have lived in my current house for 5 years, you can imagine I am well overdue a visit from the big van. Last August (2009) the long haul to achieving Northwich escape velocity began by the simple act of putting my house on the market. Fast forward one year and here we are having reached a major milestone - the ceremonial hanging of  the estate agent's bling - the Sold (subject to contract) sign. Amongst the four other properties on the market on my street, my sign represents a ship of hope afloat on a sea of property market despair. Good luck neighbours.

This isn’t me crowing about move 24 - its about my commute being cut short by about 50 miles a day, a significant and life changing move for me. I can now (potentially) do other stuff rather than press the pedals, steer and look out of the window. My commute translates into a minimum of 12 hours a week travelling, just think what could be achieved with an extra free 48 waking hours a month in your life? That’s like having a long week off work every month! So (subject to contract), here comes my new home with added sea views and 12 extra weeks a year to play with. Rather than a pithy closing comment the thought of that extra time actually scares me.
