Qualified Mentors...

Here at Agent we are all very supportive of social enterprise, we understand the sector very well and our very own Paul has just been given the prestigious role as Chair of Liverpool School for Social Entrepreneurs.
 
I am happy to say that myself, Adam, Jayne, Wayne and Paul have all just received a qualification for mentoring a number of social enterprises. Working with Social Enterprise Northwest, we have gained the Charter Management Institute Level 5 in Management Mentoring.
 
To achieve the qualification we all chose an individual social enterprise that we wanted to mentor, we then worked with the organisation to improve their knowledge and skills in Marketing and PR. The aim was to give enough mentoring support so our mentees could use the knowledge we imparted and market their businesses more effectively and more strategically. At the end of the course we all produced an individual report on our own progress, as well as the mentees throughout the programme.
 
Personally I found the whole experience invaluable. Not only did I have the opportunity to work with an extremely creative and dynamic social enterprise, I learnt a lot about myself. The programme was a great learning curve for me, I am used to just ‘getting it done’ and found it strange to take a step back and let my mentees do everything with my guidance.
 
Not to mention I achieved a brilliant feel good factor from the whole thing, I think I would definitely enjoy becoming a mentor again - and I no doubt will here at Agent.
